Applications are invited for the position of a Research Associate (RA) to carry out state of the art research in Weather and Climate Science under Prof. B. N. Goswami Funded by the SERB Distinguished Fellowship. The position is purely temporary, as long as the Project lasts, approximately three years. The research under the project envisions ways and means to extend the limit of predictability of the Indian monsoon. It also hopes to quantify the multi-decadal variability of the Indian monsoon and unravel mechanisms that are responsible for it. Disentangling the roles of orography, microphysics and dynamics in the variability and predictability of the precipitation over the NE India is also of interest.
- Qualification: Includes a Ph. D in physics or in any branches of climate science (e.g. atmospheric or oceanic sciences), sound knowledge of physics, mathematics and weather and climate sciences. Computational and analytical knowledge required for analysis of large volume of geophysical data as well as proven ability to carry out independent research are desirable.
- Remuneration: Consolidated salary of RA will follow SERB norm which is similar to the CSIR.
