Shreemanta Sankardev Fellowship by the OIL at Gauhati University 2018

Applications are invited from eligible candidates/students for the award of Shreemanta Sankardev Fellowship set up by the Oil India Limited (OIL) at Gauhati University (GU) since 2003 with a view to securing broader participation and to encourage the Scholars to focus on translation of Assamese literature from Classical to Contemporary era etc.

Fellowship/Eligibility details: 

• The Fellowship will be awarded to those eligible candidates/students who want to pursue research works in Comparative Studies in Literature (Assamese/Hindi).

• Qualification: Candidates having Master's Degree in Hindi & fulfilling all the minimum requirements and need to qualify National Eligibility Test (NET).

• Age: Not more than 28 years as on 01/01/2018. A relaxation up to 5 years is provided to the candidates belonging to OBC (Non- creamy layer, as per the central list of OBC available on: www.ncbc.nic.in) /SC/ST/PWD categories and to women applicants.

• The Fellowship will be awarded to only 1 (one) eligible candidate/student.

• Tenure: The Fellowship amount will be awarded to the eligible candidate/student for a period of 5 years subject to satisfactory progress of research work of the candidate/student which will be reviewed/monitored by an Advisory Committee constituted by the members from GU & OIL.

• Candidate/student should have proficiency in Assamese language.

Fellowship amount& other details: 

• For the first 2 years         @Rs.16,000/- x 12x2 = Rs.3,84,000/-

• For the 3rd, 4th& 5th year @ Rs.18,000/-x12x3 = Rs.6,48,000/-

• Besides, Rs. 10,000/- per annum will also be paid as Contingency to the selected Fellow.

• House Rent:- For the first 2 years-Rs.3200/- per month & for the 3rd,4th & 5th year- Rs.3600/- per month

Interested eligible candidates/students should submit their applications along with all the required supporting testimonials duly recommended/forwarded by the concerned authority/head of the Institution of his/her parent Institute wherever necessary. Candidates/students should submit their application to the Registrar, Gauhati University, Guwahati-14 along with photo copies of the testimonials on or before 30/7/2018.
